The Times obtained a copy of the settlement agreement from the Virgin Islands government through a public records request. On June 28, 2020, a group of women using the name Black Females Anonymous published a damning public letter that shook Essence magazine, the leading publication for Black women in America, to the core. Essence magazine was launched in 1970 at a time when Black business and civil-rights leaders called for greater self-determination and empowerment. The magazine was the brainchild of a group of four Black businessmen who identified a lack of publications for Black women in America. "And that is to serve Black women deeply, to serve women of color in a way that no one else has thought about." Morgan Stanley rainmaker Robert Kindler is leaving the investment bank for law firm Paul Weiss. Kindler, global chair of mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley, has been named global chair of M&A at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. "Paul, Weiss has the premier franchise for M&A and activism defense and I am excited to become a part of it." Last year, Paul Weiss represented the board of McDonald's in its proxy fight with activist investor Carl Icahn. In 2000, he joined JPMorgan, where he was named global head of M&A before joining Morgan Stanley in 2006.
